I love music, I love making music and I love listening to music, but I always hate the question "what do you listen to?" I don't want to answer with the elitist "I listen to bands that don't even exist yet", but I still feel like there is more to it than just "Indie/Alternative Rock". I tried getting statistics from my last.fm account into wordle to see how I can express this visually. The result is interesting and looks pretty cool, here's how I did it.

The Perfect Music Festival

If you have some friends with a Last.FM account, head over to http://perfectfestival.com, where you can generate the homepage for a fictive music festival where all their favorite bands are playing! Try something like "Hey chx, I'm going to Perfect Festival at the end of June, should I get you some tickets too?"

A promising week-end with Label Suisse

The last 8 entries in this blog were related to Drupal, so for a little diversity I'll write something related to my other obsession: music!

This week-end the city of Lausanne will be taken over by many events, one of which is the free music festival Label Suisse. This festival is organized by the Radio Suisse Romande (Francophone Swiss Radio) and has the mission to promote Swiss artists and to encourage collaboration, both nationally and internationally.

My first contact with the website JazzForYou.de happened when the owner and jazz guitarist Gunter 'Ruit' Kraus was recommended to me as a teacher for the two months I was to spend in Heidelberg. Despite a decent first impression, a 1997-esque structure and some too common faults very quickly popped up, so after meeting with Gunter for the first time it didn't take long before we agreed on a site redesign.

A suite of modules that make it possible to generate guitar chord diagrams. It comes with both a cck field and an input filter, so users can attach chord diagrams to nodes, or embed them directly in the content of a page. The module can be seen in action on sandbox.happypixels.net.
